This course is designed to introduce students to technology that is revolutionizing modern manufacturing and logistics centers across global markets. Students will explore careers that are related to the fourth industrial revolution and be introduced to the emerging technologies that make the manufacturing world ever changing. These technologies include; mechatronics, CAD/CAM, robots, programmable automation, cloud technologies, networking, big data and analytics. Students will design a part to be mass produced using processes such as additive and subtractive manufacturing, while utilizing lean manufacturing concepts. The course will prepare students for the SACA, C-102 Certified Industry 4.0 Associate - Advanced Operations certification where they will sit for a proctored exam at the conclusion of the course.
Course Objectives:
- Demonstrate safety hazards and application of safe work practices when working with industrial equipment and hand tools
- Communicate an occupation one could expect to obtain, and the skills needed in the fourth industrial revolution
- Differentiate between additive and subtractive manufacturing.
